The easiest way to use email with your domain name (assuming you bought the domain through our service) is to use our Email Forwarding option. But if you prefer a full email package the best available option is to use Google Apps email. The price for Google Apps mail is $5 a month per email address currently.
Note that if you bought your domain through another registrar (not Weebly) then you can continue using the email you already use through their system. You are still welcome to follow these instructions to use Google Apps email, but keep in mind that email is the responsibility of the domain host, not the web host, so we won't be able to help you with problems if you did not purchase the domain with us as we have no control over you domain settings.
Enter your exact domain name (make sure there are no typos), and click Submit.
Now you select the address you want. Even though you can create up to 10 email addresses, this will be your administrator email address and your username for this account. So make this your primary address. Then enter and confirm your password.
Scroll down and enter the personal information requested. Every field is required other than the Organization Name.
Google requests a personal email address on this page. Enter your current email address here (like firstname.lastname@example.org) - this is where Google will contact you for verification. Do not enter the address you're trying to create. Because that will lead to nothing but tears.
Google will now ask you how you'd like to set up Google Apps. Choose the Express option. This should take far less time than the 30 minutes they claim.
The next screen starts the verification process. Google needs to verify you as the owner of the domain. That ensures no one else can pretend to be you. Make sure the "Verify domain ownership" tab is selected. And then click Next.
This brings up a verification page. Click the Next button here to continue along.
You'll now be prompted to log in to the account you just created with Google. Remember the password you created a few steps earlier? That's the one to enter here.
Now you'll verify ownership of your domain. This is very simple to do if you follow the exact steps here.
First select the Alternative Methods tab.
Then choose the "Add a meta tag to your site's home page" option.
And then highlight / select the entire tag as shown below. Then right-click and copy it. You're going to paste this code in a very specific area of your website.
Keep the Google Apps verification page open, and go back to your website in the Weebly editor. You're going to paste this code into a specific section found under the Settings tab. Specifically the "Search Engine Optimization" section as seen here.
Right-click and paste the code into the Header Code box. Then Save.
Finish up in Weebly by Publishing your site.
Now that this is done, go back to the Google Apps verification page. And click the Verify button in the lower left.
Google will now offer you the chance to go through the rest of their setup wizard, but you should forget all about that and go to the Dashboard.
This brings up a screen of instructions on adding MX records to your domain. If you purchased this domain through Weebly, we've already setup these records for you. This means you can skip this section and click the "I've completed these steps" button at the bottom of the MX records page.
If you bought your domain elsewhere, then you'll need to add these MX Records to your domain. If this confuses you, take a look at Google's guide to adding their MX Records to your domain:
If you need assistance adding these records, please contact your domain registrar. We will not be able to assist with this process.
When you've added the above records, click the "I have completed these steps" button at the bottom of the screen. And again, if you bought your domain through our service, you do not need to worry about the MX Records and can skip this section entirely.
All done! You should now see that Google is updating your account and your email should be working perfectly in 24 hours or so.
How do you access your email in the future? If you bought the domain through our service, go to http://mail.yourdomainhere.com. If you did not buy the domain through our service, go to http://mail.google.com/a/typeyourdomainhere.com.
To learn how to create more email addresses for your domain, see these instructions (they're much easier). But note that Google will charge another $50 a year per address.
